Hi, I’m Sam Pohl
When I was 7, I told my friend that I would be a massage therapist when I grew up.
Fast forward some years, an undergraduate degree I wasn’t sure I would ever use, a global pandemic, and some good old-fashioned life, and I managed to find my way back to massage, a profession I had daydreamed about so long before. Sometimes we know what we want before we even know we know.
My degree did come in handy, however. I studied somatic psychology, with a focus on trauma in the body. This has become the basis from which I work with all my clients: trauma-informed and consent-based. There is an inherent vulnerability in trusting another human with your care and starting with compassion and curiosity co-creates a safe place for us both to work.
I am AuDHD, trans and non-binary, so working with my community was a no-brainer. It can be scary to find any kind of service provider who not only respects but understands the queer and trans experience. Finding one who understands the interconnectedness of neurodiversity, gender diversity, and connective tissue disorders is even harder.
Let’s work together: I am collaborative and individualized. I believe there is no one-size-fits-all tactic that will solve all your problems, but there are ways to break pain cycles, find better health through relaxation, and give your body the love and care it needs. I hope to make therapeutic massage spaces more accessible to the LGBTQIA+ community.
